He is survived by : his sons, Terry Dean Bassham (Jamie) and James Aaron Bassham (Krissy); his grandchildren, Courtney Turner (Shane), Cayla White (Tim) and Josh Bassham (Felicia); his sister Peggy B. Prentice of Martinsburg, WV; and his nieces and nephews, Timothy H. Prentice, Robin Wyckoff and Nicole Prentice. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

“Hello, Terry & James, my name is Wally Laxson from Athens, AL. Your dad and I contacted each other from time to time. We have been friends since 1959. We both started in music singing with THE TENNESSEEANS GUARTET in NASHVILLE, TN. Your dad sang baritone and I sang first tenor. Dean, will be missed by you and all of your wonderful families, he spoke of you to me very often. I will miss him as well. I am sorry I did not know of his passing until a few hours ago.
