He is survived by: his former wife Donna Hale; his children, Lisa Bennett (Christian) of Hixson, Amanda Hale Smith of Chattanooga, Callie Anne Hale of Chattanooga and Howard Hale Jr. of Chattanooga; his grandchildren, Courtney Philpott (Nick), Madison Greene (Ethan), Walker Smith (Lilli), Christian Bennett (Kyla), Ellie Smith (Jonas), Haley Bennett, Daniel Wiser, Weston Wiser and Joseph Proctor Hale; his great grandchildren, Emma, Elliott Philpott and Henry Greene; his nieces, Jennifer and Joy Hale; and his nephew Keith Richey Jr..
In recognition of his decades of service and contributions to the game, he was inducted into the USA Softball Hall of Fame in 2017, an honor he treasured deeply.
