He was predeceased by: his parents, John Willie Davis and Betty Andrew Mathis; his significant other Annette Mathis; his siblings, Thomas Davis, Anthony Davis, Dwight Mathis, Clifford Davis, Johnnie Mae Davis, Hattie Mae Davis and Priscilla Mathis; his grandson Jevon Sturdivant; and his in-laws, Cardean Brown, George Lee Brown, Sr., Gwendolyn Harris, Linda Davis, Jim Brown II, John Ed Gordon, MacArthur Scott and Anthony Rowland.
He is survived by: his children, DeSharla Rowland and Kevin Mathis; his grandchildren, Brittany Atkins, Jamelia Rowland, Keona Mathis and Marcus Simpson; his great grandchildren, Kelis, Kadyn, Khari, Aleyah, Khloe, Kalil, Caisyn and Courtnie; and his siblings, Eddie Dean Davis, Melvin Davis (Linda), Betty Ann Gordon, Mary J Pattman, Johnnie Scott, Diana Hull (Al) and Ramona Mathis (Jerome Maddox). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the John P. Franklin Funeral Home (1101 Dodds Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery (1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404).
