She was predeceased by: her parents, Dallas Verlin Pierce and Lula E. Dietz Pierce; her husband Melvin B. Thomas; and her son Gregory L. Smith. She is survived by: her children, Brad Fine (Sandy) and Amy Blafer (Craig); her daughter-in-law Dianne Smith; and her sisters, Bettye Smitherman and Sharon Schier. She is also survived by five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
