He was predeceased by: his parents, O. J. Carter and Eula Carter; and his brother Billy O. Carter. He is survived by: his sister Nancy Snodgrass; his children, Jamie, Erin, Gretchen Shiveley (Jacob) and Michael Cox; his grandchildren, Salem, Georgia Mei, Addison, Issa Carter, Carter, Reese, Molly Shiveley, Michael Justin, Jr., Justin Robert and Gracie Mae Cox; his great grandchild Zhuri Carter; his niece Kim Sanders; his nephews, Will and Gary Snodgrass; his great-niece Rachel Snodgrass; his great-nephews, Heath Snodgrass, Hank and Jack Sanders; his nephew Bo Chamberlain (Tami); his friend Charlie Greene; Barbie Vaughn Thomas.
