It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Nathaniel B. Hughes Jr. of Chattanooga, Tennessee, who passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathaniel Barker Hughes, Sr. and Catherine Conner Hughes; and his sister Catherine Hughes Landstreet. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Jennings Hughes; his sons, Nathaniel Barker Hughes III (Donna) and Thomas L. Hughes (Laura); his grandchildren, Shelly Hughes Main (Chris), Garrett Hughes, Natalie Hughes Gooday (Paul) and Allison Hughes; and his sister Mary Hughes Walker of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by one nephew and three nieces, and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (554 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37402). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to 1st Presbyterian Church Chattanooga.
