He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Gates and Diane Gates; and his brother Steve Gates. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Gates; his children, Wil Kelly and Shelby Gates; his sister Beverly Knight (Keith); and his grandchildren, Braxton, Katelyn Gates and Eric Fisher.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Turner Funeral Home (3913 Webb Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37416). A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
