He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Meyer Jr. and Clara Johanna Claussen Meyer. He is survived by: his children, Pam Weinhold (Paul) of Makanda, IL, Jane Otte (Marlin) of Marion, IL, Steve Meyer (Gail) of Chattanooga, TN, Phyllis Joy (Jim) of Calhoun, GA, Alice Meyer (Bill Buchanan) of Chattanooga, TN. and Timothy Meyer; his wife Gwen; and his siblings, John Henry Meyer II, Pauline Meyer Mumm, Alice Meyer Mariani, Edgar Meyer and Walter Meyer. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church (2800 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery (1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404).
