He was predeceased by: his parents, James Athal and Anna Guthrie Brown; his sister Athanna Brown Grime; his children, David and Erin; and his brother-in-law Jimmy Thurman.
He is survived by: his pets, Buddy, Smoky and Yogi; his wife Wanda; his siblings-in-law, Barney Thurman (Nancy) of Oklahoma, Howard Thurman of Dayton, TN, Fran Freeman of Hixson and Paulette Thurman; his nieces and nephews, Keith Thurman (Christi), Kevin Thurman, Steve Thurman, Kenny Henderson (Megan), Gregg Grime, Jonathan Grime, Terri Grime, Savannah and Garret Thurman; and his close friend Jill McIntyre.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home (5401 TN-153, Hixson, TN 37343). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens (5351 TN-153, Hixson, TN 37343).
