She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Fortson and Annie Fortson; her sisters, Cora Garth, Bennie Mae Hardwick, Doris Betts, Mildred Hesterly, Gussie Fortson, Catherine Trammell and Mattie Billings; and her nieces, Debra Scott, Vivian Hargrove and Luzon Byrd.
She is survived by: her sister Alice Watson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her sons, Wallace Fortson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Alonzo Fortson of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Kevin Fortson Sr. (Tonja) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Shaquita Fortson and Kevin Fortson Jr.; her great grandchildren, Nire'Yana, No'riah of Stockbridge, Georgia, Kailo and Khloè Fortson of Chattanooga, Tennessee.; her daughter-in-law Tonja Fortson; and her nieces, Errical Trammell, Gwendolyn Davis (Winford) and Clydia Trammell. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Greater Tucker Baptist Church (1115 N Moore Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37411). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Highland Memorial Gardens (2116-2124 Shepherd Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421).
