He is survived by: his wife Ruth Kyker Mathes; his brother Leo Mathes; his nieces and nephews, Jeff Mathes (Becca Arwood), Aaron Kyker (Ashton), Beth Travis (William), Kala Edwards (Dylan) and Sarah Murzyn (James); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jeremy Mathes, Sylar Malone, Tillman Travis, Cora Travis, Kasen Edwards and Theodore Murzyn.
He was a previous member of John M. Reed Foundation Board, Washington Co. Vol Fire Fighters Association, and Washington Co. 911 Board of Directors.
