He was predeceased by: his father Vernon Simpson; his grandmother Eva Simpson; and his uncles, Eugene, Glenn and Russell Simpson.

He is survived by: his wife Daphne Roberta Simpson; his children, Jerry Dawson Lee and Rene Michelle Gouyon; his grandsons, Zadyen Hayes, Xaiver Hayes, Neekoh Lee and Tobias Lee; his mother Bonnie Simpson; and his sisters, Wanda Jones, Wilma Dearstone and Glenda Williams. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
