He was predeceased by: his wife Alberta Deffendoll; his son Ronal Deffendoll; and his sister Helen Ross. He is survived by: his mother Sheridan Brown; his sister Bonnie Hunt; his daughter-in-law Jane Deffendoll; his grandson Danny Deffendoll (Kelly); his niece Patricia Davis; and his father William Sinks, Jr.. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
