He was predeceased by: his parents, David Byron and Mary Mayes Shorts. He is survived by: his wife Brandi Byron of Clarksville, Tennessee; his daughters, Jadyn Byron of Huntington and Addyson Byron (Kaleb Browning) of Huntington; and his siblings, Macceo Shorts (Heidi) of Columbus, Ohio, William Shorts, III (Brian) of Lorain, Ohio, Michael Green of Atlanta, Georgia, Joslyn Byron and Olivia Welch (Robert).
