He was predeceased by : his parents, William Henry and Lorine Anderson Ellis; his wife Constance Saddler Ellis; his sons, Ronzie Ellis II and William Ellis III; and his siblings, William Lisenbee, Frank Ellis, Aubry Ellis, Parker Anderson, Frederick Ellis, Sr. and Frances Cooke.

He is survived by : his daughters, Latina Ellis and Crystal Ellis; his siblings, Patrick Ellis, Michael Ellis, Lucy Wright, Margie Daniels (Harry Holt) and Catherine Wells (William); and his grandchildren, Arrianna Jones, Kayla Ellis, Ronzie Ellis III and Javonte Cummings. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
