He is survived by: his children, Teresa Gaines (Charles), Rhonda Sharp (Lloyd) and Vernon Rafe Jernigan; his grandchildren, Brooke King Miles (Cody), Alan Brent King (Erica), Charles E. Gaines, III (Danielle), Aaron Chaz Jernigan (Lauren), Rachel Jernigan Hoaglund (Chase) and Vernon Reece Jernigan (Whitney); and his wife Sara Frances Norris. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
