He is survived by: his children, Sam Blankenship (Amy) and Keshia Young (Jason); his grandchildren, Logan Young, Sarah Stevens, Emily Stevens, Gracie Powers and Abby Blankenship; his sisters, Lucille Gibson (Gary), Linda Goins (Gary) and Vickie Patterson (Bryan); his brother-in-law Gary Long; his brother Donny Byers; and his nieces, Melinda Garland and Heather Thompson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Companion Funeral & Cremation Service (2412 Georgetown Rd NW, Cleveland, TN 37311). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery (7619 Blue Springs Rd, Cleveland, TN 37311).
