He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Rowan and Alene Rowan; and his brothers-in-law, Mack Luke, Randall Carlton and Roger Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Dr. Kathy Shankle-Rowan; his siblings, Linwood (Melanie), Cheryl Luke, Lydia Carlton and Wannie Chafin (Glen); and his sister-in-law Cynthia Johnson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
