Gene Bishop Obituary
Gene Bishop, 82, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at a local hospital. He made the move from Texas in 1980 with the Coca Cola Company where he was Vice President of Operations. After retiring from Coke Gene was owner/operator of several businesses. He then went to work for Chase Construction out of Nashville until 2008.
After that Gene worked for Cleveland City Schools until 2013 when health issues would not allow him to work. Gene was a member of Elkmont Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Winnie Fay Bishop; brother, Mardell Bishop; and sister, Olene Falls. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Bishop; children, Klark (Brenda) Bishop of Conroe, TX, Kelly (Ila) Bishop and Karla (Ron) Fratt, all of Coldsprings, TX, and Sky Bishop and Kathryn (Byron) Snyder, all of Cleveland and Randall (Tara) Cooper of Maryville; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Mathis of Hempstead, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Elkmont Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Hood officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery (Hopewell area) with Matt Dillard, Tanner Dillard, Dustin Dillard, Byron Snyder, Jeff Price and Brian Hood serving as pallbearers. R. L. Queen will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
His family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to Elkmont Baptist Church, 4030 Old Freewill Road, Cleveland TN 37312.
