He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank McGowan and Flossie McGowan; his wife Marie Etta McGowan (Norvell); and his son Franklin. He is survived by: his children, David and Jerry McGowan (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Jackie Wilson (H. W. Dusty Wilson), Brittany Blank (Phil), Stephen McGowan, Elissa Johnson, Dustin Wilson (Sarah), Jordan Wilson (Whitney) and Morgan Kawakami (Stephen); and his great grandchildren, Rose, Lily, Daisy Blank, Riley, Jayden Wilson, Raja Wilson, Willow, Milo, Rio and Margo Kawakami.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the JIM Rush Funeral and Cremation Services - North Ocoee (2603 N Ocoee St, Cleveland, TN 37312). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the JIM Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee (2603 N Ocoee St, Cleveland, TN 37312).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Home for Children in Sevierville TN. specifically for the Worship Arts Academy.
