He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Gunter and Agnes Gunter; and his siblings, Linda Croft, Barbara Reeves Collins, Wanda Cole and Eddie Gunter.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Gunter; his daughter Amy Ownby (Richard); his stepdaughter Heather Self; his grandchildren, Caleb Ownby, Christian Self, Austin Self, Gracie Ownby, Kinsley Ownby and Kaya Self; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Hamilton (Mike), Janet Caldwell and Gary Nicholson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 5th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Companion Funeral & Cremation Service - Cleveland (2415 Georgetown Rd NW, Cleveland, TN 37311). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 5th 2026 from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, March 6th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery (1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404).
