He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles A. Payne and Eleanor J Payne; his brother David Payne (Marilyn); and his stepmother Evelyn Payne. He is survived by: his wife Catherine H. Payne of Cleveland, TN; his son Christopher Payne (Amber) of Cleveland, TN; his grandchildren, Alexander, Caden, Jonathan, Ashley and Aubrey; his sister Sheryl (Michael) of Christiansburg, VA; his stepbrother Tom Carr of Franklin, VA; and his nieces and nephews, Michael Spencer (Suzanne), Jason Spencer (Leslie), Benjamin Spencer (Makana), Matthew Spencer (Meredith), Patricia Payne Tsitsera (Chris), Jennifer Payne Britt (Roland) and Amy Spencer-Pleuss (Jimi). He is also survived by sons and daughters and extended family and friends.
