It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Hilger Wynkoop (Cleveland, Tennessee), born in Dickens, Texas, who passed away on May 1, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Maggie Neva Hilger Wynkoop and Hilbart Benton Wynkoop; his wife Evelyn Goins Wynkoop; his son Byron C. Wynkoop; and his sister Ann Wynkoop Allen.

He is survived by: his daughter Beth Wynkoop Underwood; his grandchildren, Robert Wynkoop (Audrey), Murphy R Wynkoop (Shanda), Kelsey W. Wilson (Matthew), Miosha Hughes and DeQuan Hughes; his great grandchildren, Ethan Wynkoop, Noah, Carter, Miles and Melody Wilson; and his close friend Linda Hughes. He is also survived by extended family and many friends.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the North Cleveland Church of God or to the Gideon's International.
