He was predeceased by : his parents, Rufus Whaley and Hazel Whaley; his children, Rufus Sanders Whaley II and Rebecca Sharlene Thurman; and his wife Rebecca Hix Whaley.
He is survived by : his daughter-in-law Karen Denise Whaley (James Blanks); his brother David Lindsey Whaley (Maxine); and his grandchildren, Rufus Sanders Whaley III (Ashley), Cassandra Sue Young (Wade), Brinn Shultz and Sarah Thurman. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
