He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jean Cofer; his parents, James R. Cofer and Effie Cofer; and his siblings, Donald Lee (Faye), James R. Jr. (Eva), Bryant Allan (Barbra Jo), Faye Roark (Dale), Wilba Poole (Otis), Dorothy Harris, Frankie Standridge (Leonard) and Geraldine Harris (Homer).
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Cofer (Angela) and Troy Cofer; his grandchildren, Rebekah Reed (Bryan), Joshua Cofer (Sammie Kate), Mitchell Cofer (Rachael) and Dustin Cofer (Monica); and his brother Douglas Cofer (Sandra). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
