He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn G. Irwin and Ruth Rice Irwin; his wife Carolyn Hobbs; his son Robert David Irwin; his brother John Rice Irwin; and his niece Karen Erickson.
He is survived by: his daughter Anne Irwin Buhl (Hector Padilla); his granddaughter Katherine Buhl; his son-in-law Joseph Buhl; his niece Elaine Meyer (Ed); his great-niece Lindsey Meyer Gallaher (Jason); his great-nephews, John Meyer (Sara) and Will Meyer (Molly); his cousin Beverly Stooksbury Leitner; Parker Gallaher, Rese, Avery and Landry Meyer.
