He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd McConkey and Ruth McConkey; his siblings, Elizabeth Braden, Billie Shelby and James McConkey; his nephews, Michael Braden and Mark McConkey; and his niece Myra Glandon.
He is survived by: his wife Leona McConkey of Rocky Top; his sister Virginia Richards of Knoxville; and his nephews, Jeffrey Braden and Randy Braden. He is also survived by several nieces, cousins, friends, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
