He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Jackson Sherwood; his son Jason Sherwood; his parents, Homer Sherwood and Ruth Sherwood; and his sisters, Dottie Charters and Bernice Brooks.

He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Gilland (Joseph) and Robert Sherwood; his grandsons, Tanner Gilland and Christopher Sherwood; and his sister Janie Benham. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
