He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Teresa Carter; his daughters, Kim McDaniel (Mark) of Collierville, Tennessee and Lynn Boone (Dan) of Nixa, Missouri; his grandchildren, Karin Caouette of Collierville, Tennessee., Sara McDaniel, Mark McDaniel, Jr. (Hannah), John McDaniel (Nicki), Alexandra Taylor (Mark), Daniel Boone (Cherith), Katie Jones (Ethan), Carter Boone (Elizabeth), Caleb Boone, Christian Boone, Addison Boone and Ariah Boone; his great grandchildren, Mark McDaniel, III and Charlotte Taylor; and his sister Martha Miller of Florence.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 9th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Collierville Funeral Home (3863 Bailey Station Rd, Collierville, TN 38017). The military honors was held on Friday, May 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the West Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery (4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warriors, in honor of Captain Carter's legacy of service, love and faith.
