He is survived by: his parents, Jory Gates and Beverly Gates; his brother Jack Gates; his grandparents, Fred, Sandra Rhoton, Jackie, Barbara Sanders, Deborah Pickens and Jim Gates; and his great-grandparent Rosalyn Pickens.
