She was predeceased by: her parents, Horace Eugene "Bud" Greer and Vera Gray Greer; her husbands, William Hughes Akin and Howard Eugene "Snooks" Alderson; her stepson Michael Howard Alderson; and her siblings, Flora Hayes and L. C. McCloud.
She is survived by: her children, Jan Akin Ford of Columbia and Dr. Bill Akin; her daughter-in-law Sheila Akin of Nashville; her stepdaughters, Lesa Young (Buck) of Columbia and Martha Polk (Doug) of Cary; her grandchildren, Dr. Will Akin (Whitney), Elizabeth Akin Townsend (Collier), Sara Ford Parker and Rachel Ford Fuller; and her stepgrandchildren, Jay Alderson (Leila), Lindsay Edelen (Brian), Emily Graney (Kevin), Lucy Wahlman (Matt), Tom Young (Delaney), Shaye Polk and Daniel Polk (Rebecca). She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
