He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Rodgers Spires and Rosie Viola Wiley Spires. He is survived by: his children, Sharon Gagnard, Rose Matthews and Bobby Joe "B. J." Spires Jr.; his nieces, Kathy Harper, Tammy McEvers, Tina Harlach and Mary McClain; and his nephew Donnie Spires. He is also survived by several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
