He was predeceased by : his parents, Annie Vera Braden and Fred Braden; and his siblings, Annie Geneva Crutcher, Fred Braden Jr. and William Thomas Braden.

He is survived by : his sister Willie Mae Montgomery; his children, John McClain, Tabitha McClain, Tosha McClain and Kristen McClain; his aunts, Mary Drake, Verna Dean Houston and Marrie Cotham; and his friend Albert Bright. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
