He was predeceased by: his parents, William James Caruthers and Mattie Bell Walker Caruthers; his siblings, Wendell Walker and Paulette Francis; and his grandparents, John and Jesse Caruthers.
He is survived by: his wife Omega Caruthers; his siblings, James Allen Caruthers (Mildred), Danny Wayne Caruthers, Minnie D. Davis (Samuel), Renater Webster (Anthony) and Patricia Martin; his stepchildren, Antonio Martin, Britton Harris, Houston D. Harris and Jonathan Harris; his grandchild Lavarius Harris Troup; his aunts, Charlene Bills (Eddie Joe), Nettie Frierson, Patricia Ann Frierson and Sarah Ann Frierson; his siblings-in-law, Minnie Dale, Patricia Martin and Dale Martin; his godchildren, Yulette Sparkman and Lamont Sparkman; his nephew Omar Craig (Hillary); and his friend Al Pye (Richard Johnson). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
