He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyston Secrest and Mayme Louise Blalock Secrest; and his grandson-in-law Davey Fowler. He is survived by: his wife Gayle Norton Secrest of Columbia; his children, Bethany Secrest of Columbia and Clay Secrest, Sr.; his daughter-in-law Sandra of Columbia; his grandchildren, Megan Fowler (Robert Shields), Raelyn Hord, Clayton Secrest, Jr. (Olivia), Jon Hord (Emily) and Samantha King; his great grandchildren, Hannah, Harley, Gracie, Ian, Hadley, Hayden and Anthony; his great great grandchildren, Lainey and Keaton; and his siblings, Kenny Secrest (Brenda) and Cristi Secrest. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
