He was predeceased by: his wife Lola Sherry Thurman; his parents, Earnest Thurman and Julia Harris White; his brother Thomas Ray Thurman Sr.; and his granddaughter Valerie Archbold.
He is survived by: his brother Roy Thurman; his children, Ernest Thurman, Jr. (Gail), Shelly Minnear (Darin) and Mary Thurman (Scott Moore); his grandchildren, Chasity (Randall), Cory (Amber), Hendi (Robert), Vivian (Michael), Karissa (Nate), DJ and Garrett (Tara); his stepgrandchildren, Hannah and Ericka; and his great grandchildren, Rylee, Danny, Ashton, Cayden, Lexi, Noah, Weston, Bentlee, Carri, Aubree and MJ.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Dodson Branch Southern Baptist Church (16095 Dodson Branch Hwy, Cookeville, TN 38501).
