She was predeceased by: her parents, George Franklin and Effnora Carter (Rutherford); her husband Thurman Benton Gaw; her brothers, Delmas and Gary Carter; her sisters-in-law, Phoebe and Lorene Carter; her nephew Ryan Lessnau; and her stepchildren, Kenny, Douglas Gaw and Kimberly Parrott.
She is survived by: her son Eric Gaw (Sophie); her siblings, Fontella Lessnau, Pamela Carter, Henry Lee and Mickey Ray Carter (Gayle); her nieces, Cindy Douglas, Erica, Becky and Monica; and her stepchildren, Cheryl, Paula and Christie. She is also survived by grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends; To that host, Granny.
