He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Newton Carmichael Sr. and Lucy Mae Plunkett; his brothers, Kenneth, Donald and Gene Carmichael; and his stepson Jeffrey Stewart.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Walters Stewart; his children, Patti Carmichael Davis and Joel Carmichael; his stepson Joshua Stewart; his granddaughters, Jessica, Felicia, Kaylee and Lily; and his great grandchildren, Sophie and Wyatt.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church or the Corryton Hospitality Pantry.
