He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Hughes and Edith Hughes; his brothers, Doug and Harold Junior; and his daughter Candy Acuff.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Norton Hughes; his children, Walter A Hughes II (Rachel), Megan Hutchinson (Johnny) and Connie Hurst; and his siblings, Nancy Roberts, Karen Conley, Kathy Groharing Dochterman (John) and Chris Hughes (Renee). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and bonus children.
