He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Elizabeth and Herbert C. Smith; his siblings, Herbert, Frank, William, Miles Smith and Clara Gorman; and his daughter Sarah Katherine Huddleston.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Robert Smith, Jr. and Jennifer Smith; his son-in-law David Huddleston; his granddaughter Sasha Carpenter (Michael); his brother John E. Smith; and his sibling's children, Gary Smith, Patsy Roberts, Micki Johnson, Linda Headley, Donna Hilton, Margaret Morrison, Toni Mahaffey and Jamie Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the charity of donor's choice.
