He was predeceased by: his parents, George Lee Thomas, Sr. and Anne Belle Neely Thomas; his brother George Thomas; and his grandson Graham Smith. He is survived by: his wife Terri Thomas; his son Michael Wayne Thomas; his stepson Michael Everette Smith; his daughter Dana Shoops; his stepdaughters, Laura of Washington and Kori Baker; and his siblings, Billy Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, Juanita Woodard and Margie Starnes. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
