He was predeceased by: his wife Connie Marie Burris; his brothers, Willie Bryant Jones, Doug Jones and David Jones; and his son Jeffery Ray Burris.

He is survived by: his daughters, Teresa Ann Burris, Regina Gail Sandberg (Mike) and Shelia D. Bailey (Jeff); and his siblings, Richard Jones, Nellie Anglin, Diann Martin and Betty Salmon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
