He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Ashley and Minnie Gifford Ashley; and his siblings, Ted, Dan, James Harvey Ashley, Mary Lee Petty, Lou Jean Clark and Elaine Janey.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Marie Ashley of Cowan; his son Dakota Claridy of Estill Springs; and his sisters, Sue Nagel of Lebanon and Doris Gill of Tullahoma. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
