We announce the death of Frances Whitaker James of Dandridge, Tennessee, who passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 94. Frances will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her husband Scott James; her parents, John S. Whitaker and Jewell Whitaker; her siblings, Bruce, Noonie Whitaker and Betty Liston; and her stepsons, Dennis and Michael James.
She is survived by: her stepson Steve (Renee'James); her stepdaughter-in-law Tammy James; her brother-in-law Jimmy Liston; her grandchildren, Carla Long, Jesse James (Gwen), Angelia Hance (Justin) and David James; and her nieces and nephews, Christy Whitaker, Michael Adams Dan "Bo" Pearson, Daniel Pearson, Brenda Albert, Dorothy Harbin, Patti Peters, Alene Bragg, Billie Hurt, Bobby James, Jeff James and Ricky James.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Edgemont Church of God's Senior Day Fund, 202 Clevenger Cutoff Rd., Newport, TN 37821.
