He was predeceased by: his parents, R. L. Mckenzie and Myrtle Randolph; his wife Johnnie B McKenzie; his brother Rueben Lafayette McKenzie Jr.; his niece Cindy Howard; and his nephew James Anthony "Tony" McKenzie.
He is survived by: his daughter Lesia McKenzie Thornton (Jeff); his stepson Perry Harris (Cathy Howard); his siblings, George Madison McKenzie (Shelby), Jerry McKenzie (Jeanna) and Mary Lou DeLoch (Benny); his grandchildren, Amanda Esque (Mikel), Megan Thornton, Daniel Harris (Tiffanie) and Tara Hamilton (Xan); his great grandchildren, Kenzie Rae Esque, Elizabeth "Izzy", Mikel "Tripp" III and Robert "Scotty" Esque; and his close friends, Mercy, Harold Painter, Annette and Marvin White. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends.
