He was predeceased by: his father Luther Godsey; and his stepfather Fred Layman. He is survived by: his mother Mary Layman; his sons, Chris Godsey (Sandra) of Cleveland and Shane Godsey of Decatur; his granddaughters, Hailey and Miranda Godsey; his siblings, Susie (Jimmy Lawson), Laurie (Scott Miesse), Lynn (Rob Spillar) and Van (Hydi Godsey); and his close friends, Sharon Robinson, Jeff, Sherri Robinson and Nathan Robinson.
