He was predeceased by: his parents, Charnel Smith and Georgia Smith Sr. (Woodard); his wife Hazel Smith; his daughters, JoAnn Walker and Hazel Stacey; his granddaughter Jessica Walker; and his siblings, Charnel Smith Jr., Jerry Smith, Mike Smith, Sharon Smith, Mary Smith and Martha Sue Robinson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Joyce Lynn Partin (Steve) and Janice Steele (Alan); his grandchildren, James Pierce Sr. (Desiree), Jacob Pierce (Xena Delgadillo), Rebecca Lynn Pierce, Timothy Steele, Elisha Young, Sean McClaughlin, Leighton Stacey, Joe William Walker (Kim) and Brent Alan Walker; and his sisters, Margaret Pickett and Portia Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
