He was predeceased by: his parents, James Forrest and Louise Merritt (Green). He is survived by: his wife Tammy Hill Merritt of Decherd; and his siblings, James "Jim" Forrest Merritt III (Dava) of Winchester, George William Merritt (Wanda) of Troy, Janice Louise and Judith Arn Johnson of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association.
