He was predeceased by: his mother Pauline Shelton Harper; his grandparents, Patrick P., Hattie Starkey Shelton, James B. and Ella Hampton Harper; his siblings, Reed H. Harper, Jr., Annette Harper Leatherwood and Carolyn Harper Coleman; his niece Dawn Coleman; and his nephew Caleb Coleman.

He is survived by: his wife Sheri Rogers Harper; his children, Tonya Harper Teague (Mark), Patrick Harper (Melissa), Erin Harper-Rogers (Joseph) and Jacklyn Meyers McDonald (Tony); his grandchildren, Josh Harper, Tristin Teague, Brittany Harper Branch, Braxton Parker, Melody Harper, Joseph Maxwell, Landon Powell, Bryton Standridge, Whyat McDonald, Harper Branch, Kaylie Maxwell, Paige Harper, Carson Brown, Carver Johnson and Alizabeth Johnson; the mothers of children, Bobbie Davis and Vicki Piersall (Robert); his nieces and nephews, Carmen Leatherwood Schroeder (Brian), Tabitha Leatherwood Miller (Eric), Kecia Leatherwood McClary, Ashley Mize Taylor (Marcus), Brian Coleman (Kim) and Cody Mize; his siblings-in-law, Bennie Leatherwood, Jim Coleman and Renee Bishop; his mother-in-law Delores Stewart; Ellie Standridge.
