He was predeceased by: his parents, Bowling Briggs Boyd and Katherine Louise Ballentine Boyd of Donelson; his siblings, Bowling Briggs Boyd Jr. and Elizabeth Lee Copeland; and his daughter-in-law Carol Corlew Boyd.
He is survived by: his wife Rosalyn Lee Hale Boyd; and his children, Amy Louise Hagewood (Lowell), William Hale Boyd (Lori), Stephen Briggs Boyd (Mary Lee) and James Samuel Boyd (Lori). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
